Laois communities are set to come together for Clean up Laois Week this April in conjunction with An Taisce’s – National Spring Clean Campaign.
Clean up Laois Week is now in its 16th year and will take place from the April 8 - 12.
In previous years, the campaign has been a huge success and growing year on year, with the support and sponsorship from AES who take away the bags of rubbish collected.
In 2018 nearly 150 groups registered and in excess of 900 volunteers took part in the initiative, which resulted in a total of 49.08 tonnes of waste being collected.
Siobhan Duff of Laois County Council's Environment Section said this brings the county together.
“It’s wonderful to see the huge level of commitment and involvement in all towns and villages across the county.
"Clean up Laois Week brings together the general public, our sponsors AES and the Local Authority to reduce litter and show pride in their towns and villages by working together," she said.
