A lorry that collided with the railway bridge on the Mountrath Road in Portlaoise on Wednesday afternoon has been cleared.
An eyewitness told the Leinster Express a lorry struck the bridge and 'took the top off the trailer'. It is understood the trailer was carrying cargo and gardaí attended the scene but it was cleared quickly.
A recovery truck and Irish Rail staff were at the scene. No major traffic delays have been reported.
Irish Rail is working on delays of up to 30 minutes.
