More than 1,800 customers have suffered an electricity cut in Portlaoise.
The ESB reported the outage at 3.23pm on Saturday.
The company's Powercheck website reported that 1,832 customers were hit.
The company said that the power could be out until 7pm Saturday but it was working on the fault.
Power was restored to many customers by 4pm.
