Three Laois housing estates illegally dumped 100 tonnes of waste

Dumping in Laois

Just three Laois housing estates are responsible for over a third of the household waste dumped illegally in the county in the past year.

In 2019 there were 291 tonnes of household waste illegally dumped in Laois, costing Laois County Council €38,500 to clean up.
Of that 102 tonnes came from three housing estates, the council has stated.

“These are three problem areas that we are getting continous representations on,” said Rory O'Callaghan from the Environment section at the January council meeting.
