Laois GAA is inviting young people from across the county which takes place in March.

Scór is a GAA competition that combines all the colour and rivalry of Gaelic Games with the social element of Ireland’s traditional past-times.

The competition was established by the GAA in 1969 with the aim of promoting Ireland’s traditional pastimes and culture while offering club members the chance to represent their club during the winter months while Football and Hurling had ceased.

There are nine events in Scór that cover all aspects of Irish culture: Figure/Céilí Dancing, Solo Singing, Instrumental Music, Recitation, Ballad Group, Novelty Act, Set Dancing and Table Quiz. Competitors for Scór Na nÓg must be under 17 years of age as of the 1st January 2023.

Laois have had a lot of success in the past with Scór na nÓg as Mountmellick claimed All-Ireland honours in 1974 in the Question Time Category. Errill alos have an All-Ireland title to their name with the club winning when their set dancers were victorious in 1986.

Winners go through to represent Laois in the Leinster semi-final, and then, if successful the Leinster final. Winners in the Leinster final then represent club, county, and province in the All-Ireland finals. The format is the same through each of these rounds, the one exception is the Table Quiz, where winners go straight through to the All-Ireland final.

Scór na nÓg will take place in the LOETB Centre of Excellence in Portlaoise on Friday March 10.

Anyone wishing to register for this year's competition can do by emailing the county board on administrator.laois@gaa.ie.
Entries must be given on or before March 3.

This year, the Leinster Final will be in the Wexford Opera House.
