Mature Laois residents will be happy to hear that the award winning Live Well Health and Wellbeing Expo is returning for a third year, and bringing new additions.
Last year saw around 2,000 attendees visit Portlaoise College to browse over 100 local exhibitor stands, listen to expert talks, attend the demos with LOETB and Google and have their health screened by a HSE team.
It was also a joyous day filled with chat and laughter as communities around Laois met each other and learned of all the supports and social groups geared towards older agegroups. See photo gallery of the 2024 event here.
The Laois expo even went on to be shortlisted for a national award.
Co-ordinators Tom Curran from Laois County Council's Age Action Laois, and Emma O'connor, Healthy Laois list the new additions and old favourites set for the April 2025 expo.
"This year will see the return of our popular exhibitors and some exciting new ones. Google have assured us that they will be with us again to help you with all your technology needs and questions and 2025 sees Hidden Hearing make their debut at the Live Well Expo- they will be providing free ear wax and health checks on the day and will have an audiologist there on the day to answer your question.
"We have some talks and discussions being planned currently , with Dr. Joe Tierney from the Technical University of the Shannon set to talk at the event. Joe is a lecturer and researcher at the university and is a brilliant and passionate speaker on active ageing."
The day runs from 11am to 6pm, with free entry and free refreshments. It takes place in Portlaoise College, R32N705.
