A number of safety improvement works are currently underway in Mountrath, including pedestrian traffic lights.
Laois County Council have had temporary traffic management arrangements in place on Main Street in Mountrath since Thursday morning, April 2. This is due to the installation of mini pillars along the street.
These works will continue to require temporary traffic management arrangements until 5pm on Friday, April 3.
Pedestrian traffic lights are also being installed on Main Street near Tom Delaney and Son's Pub.
As well as this, improvements are being carried out on the footpaths for visually impaired people.

Local Councillor James Kelly said that works on the footpath are ongoing in order to "make it accessible for all."
The Mountrath councillor advised that these works will continue into next week.
In terms of disruptions to motorists, Cllr Kelly said there will only be a "slight impact" for drivers as the works are taking place.
"The most important thing is that we get the pedestrian lights working properly for the safety of all," he told the Leinster Express / Laois Live.
