A section of the N80 between Portlaoise and Mountmellick has been closed following a road accident.

Emergency services are on the scene tending to the single car accident, which Gardaí describe as 'weather related'.

No injuries have been reported, with the road due to open imminently.

Gardaí urge Laois motorists to take caution while driving in heavy rain, where roads are experiencing poor visibility and surface water issues.

A yellow warning for rainfall was issued for counties Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Tipperary and Waterford, due to end at 2pm today.
