Laois motorists warned to expect delays at busy Portlaoise road

Laois County Council has cautioned motorists to expect delays in the heart of Portlaoise due to work on footpaths and cycle lanes.

The local authority has a temporary traffic management system in place along the lower end of James Fintan Lalor Avenue on the N80.

The work is being carried out from the intersection of JFL Avenue with the Well Road and New Road and intersection of JFL Avenue with the Stradbally Road and Bridge Street near SS Peter & Paul's Parish Church. 

The local authority says the works are being carried out between 8 am on Monday, February 16 to 6 pm on Tuesday, February 17.

The council says the work is being carried out for footpath and cycle lane improvement works / Triogue Way. MORE BELOW PHOTO ON OTHER WORK ON THE TOWN'S ROADS.

Work is also being carried out on the Mountmellick Road, were almost six weeks of Laois roadworks are being carried out - also on the N80.

The council has also put motorists on notice of 16 weeks of work on the town's Dublin Road to facilitate work on two roundabouts. The work is due to commence on February 26.
