The Mountmellick Gun Club and Game Preservation Club are very proud to commence the Grey Partridge Breeding Programme. The national programme involves 12 clubs around the country, who are each given a breeding pair of Grey Partridges
The club keeps their breeding pair on their club grounds in release pens and are the first club in Laois to try and successfully breed these very rare game birds.

In 2022, they were crowned Intermediate All-Ireland Club of the Year with great help and commitment from their club members, but also more importantly the support from the local farmers and community.

They have also received very kind support and donations from local businesses and are very grateful for their sponsorship in helping them pursue their goal in reintroducing the Grey Partridge to the local area and beyond.

They would like to thank the following for their support and sponsorship; Jonathan Ward Transport Limited Mountmellick, Dunkeen Oil, IntegriLeads, Michael Moore Car Sales, Mountmellick Credit Union, Eddie Kirwan’s Bar Mountrath, as well as local councillors Cllr Paddy Bracken and Cllr Seamús McDonald.
