We gathered our 2nd and 3rd Year Students in the GPA to make a presentation to 3rd Year Student Dan Downey following his fantastic achievements this year, claiming gold representing pic.twitter.com/fV372bSqFm
St Mary's CBS in Portlaoise gave All-Ireland champion Dan Downey an afternoon to remember as his fellow students came together in celebration for his scintillating running season.
Dan won three All-Ireland medals in 2023 as well as three Leinster medals in the Long Jump, High Jump and 800m race. His amazing achievements saw him chosen to represent Ireland at the AAA Championships in Birmingham where he too came home in first place.
The teachers and students in attendance watched a re-run of Dan's 800m All-Ireland winning race before he was presented with a canvas by his Year Head Mr. White while Deputy Principal Mr.Thompson presented him with a pair of Nike multi-event spikes.
