Noel O'Sullivan was crowned champion at the IEPF World 8-Ball Championships Over-50 Masters
Born and raised in Laois, Noel O’Sullivan first picked up a cue at the age of eight, and within a decade had become a familiar figure at his local cue club, known for near-century breaks on the snooker table.
As his love of snooker grew, Noel’s passion for pool developed naturally, with a talent that impressed and sometimes baffled those around him.
Noel has represented Laois with pride, but 2025 marked the pinnacle of his career to date. He claimed victory at the IEPF World 8-Ball Championships Over-50 Masters, held in Ennis, Co. Clare, facing a field of 128 world-class players, including renowned names such as Steve Robertshaw and Willy Brown.
In a thrilling final, Noel defeated one of the world’s top players, Dylan Leary, to secure the highly coveted title. This remarkable achievement is a source of pride not only for Noel but for Laois, and Ireland as a whole.
We wish Noel the very best of luck as he prepares to compete in the European Championships in Cyprus next February, both in the singles event and as part of the Irish team. Congratulations on an outstanding accomplishment!
