The main street through a Laois town has been sprayed in what is believed to be human faeces, with a shocking video shared showing the filth being driven through by traffic.
Shopfronts, the footpaths and the road have been coated in the waste, on the N80 road through Mountmellick this Wednesday, January 25.
Local butcher Martin Morris took this video of the scenes faced by locals and drivers.
Mr Morris said online that the waste was released from a passing truck.
"Some pile of s#*#e," he said.
Cllr Paddy Bracken from Mountmellick Borris-in-Ossory Municipal District has told the Leinster Express / Laois Live that it is believed to be human waste.
"I understand that it was a truck from a treatment plant that braked suddenly, and then drove on," he said.
Speaking at the scene, he has advised the public to stay away from the road, for health and safety reasons.
Laois County Council has been alerted to come and clean the road, and Cllr Bracken said they will be there as soon as possible today.
