In PICTURES: Vintage Laois generosity for vital Hospice

Nearly €40,000 in generously donated funds was officially presented this month to help Laois Hospice to provide vital care in Laois.

Last Friday, November 3 the Laois Vintage Club held its 26th annual cheque presentation event in with Laois Hospice at Treacy’s Bar and Restaurant, The Heath. The proceeds were raised from the 26th Laois Hospice Vintage Run which departed from and arrived back to Treacy's on August 9 this year.

The Laois Vintage Club's Secretary and Treasurer was delighted with the outcome which to the huge sum raised over the quarter of a century.

“What an outstanding result to our 2023 charity drive with €37,321 having been raised and presented to Laois Hospice on the night. This brings our combined total to date to €1,065,129.

“We extend a massive thank you to every supporter, sponsor, bucket collector and, of course, to each participant who joined us for our Vintage Sponsored Road Run last August.

“It is only through the help of all our dedicated and loyal friends, and supporters, that we have reached the level of success achieved to date. Our heartfelt ‘thank you’ to all involved,” said Ms Graham.

Laois Hospice Foundation helps to provide a palliative care service for Cancer patients, whose illness no longer responds to curative treatment. The Hospice also provides support for the families of such patients.

This total care involves doctors, nurses, a team of specialists and the clergy, who are all concerned with quality of life.
