It was a very special day for the school community at Mayo National School on Saturday, May 10 when they celebrated an extraordinary 150 years in education. Mayo National School first opened as Tolerton National School in 1875, and is located near the Laois / Kilkenny border. They celebrated the milestone with a  mass in Mayo church followed by refreshments in the primary school. The school displayed roll books, old photographs and stories from their 150 years in operation. Photographer Alf Harvey attended the event for the Leinster Express/Laois Live.
