PICTURES: Fantastic weekend in Laois for Music at The Malthouse

A talented collection of musicians gathered in Laois over the weekend for the Music at the Malthouse BOP (Building Orchestral Pathways) Orchestra and Ensembles concert.

The concert featured young and adult musicians from Music Generation Laois, Laois School of Music, Music Generation Offaly, Academy of Music Tullamore, and Music Generation Westmeath.

The musicians were under the direction of Musician Educators from across Music Generation programmes in Laois, Offaly and Westmeath and guest conductor Diane Daly from the Irish Chamber Orchestra. 

The annual concert kicked off on Saturday May 10 with special guests including Tg4's Gradam Ceoil Composer of the Year 2025 Johnny Óg Connolly.

On Sunday guest conductor Diane Daly lead the orchestra through stunning renditions of Beethoven, Brahms and other popular classical pieces.

Music Generation Laois is part of Music Generation, Ireland's national music education programme, initiated by Music Network, co-funded by U2, The Ireland Funds and the Department of Education.

Locally Music Generation Laois is part of Laois and Offaly Education and Training Board and supported by Laois County Council.
