Laois County Library Service launched the return of "My Little Library Bag" initiative, which offers every child starting school in September a free Book Bag.
Local children attended Abbeyleix and Rathdowney libraries to receive their fabulous new bags, along with a fun book reading event.

Library Staff have put together a bag of books and resources to help children starting primary school in September this year and are welcome to call their local library and collect their very own library card and wallet and library bag.
"Reading is a magical gift and it is great to give children the opportunity to develop a love of reading," said County Librarian Bernie Foran.
"The library service encourages children and their families to visit regularly! We have a wide selection of children's books and run many exciting events throughout the year.
We hope that these book bags will ignite a lifelong love of reading and learning in every child as they embark on this exciting new chapter!" Ms Foran finished.
