The Errill students have been working on a song to remember the Great Famine in their area, inspired by the work of the Errill Famine Commemoration Committee.

A series of song-writing workshops were facilitated in the classroom by Nuala Kelly of Music Generation Laois, in collaboration with Creative Ireland Laois.

The Errill Famine song ‘The Day the Music Died’ was performed for the first time to a very receptive audience, at the recent opening of the newly-refurbished Errill Community Hall.

This powerful and evocative song will soon be professionally recorded by the children, and available for listening on a number of platforms.
