Green light for major nursing home extension in Portarlington

Oakdale Nursing Home

A nursing home in Portarlington has been given the green light for a major extension. 

Oakdale Nursing Home at Kilmalogue in Gracefield was granted planning permission for two storey extension and other work at the nursing home. 

The development will include 49 ensuite bedrooms together with recreational spaces and staff facilities. 

The plans include provision for the use of solar panels on the roof of the nursing home extension, the creation of a new lobby and the demolition of an existing canopy at the front of the nursing home. 

An old uninhabited house on the site is to be demolished and a new storage and plant building will be constructed.

The existing car park is to be extended and an ESB sub station is to be built at the site which is also getting a new entrance and landscaping.
