Proposal lodged for construction of residential care units in Laois

Laois County Council has received a planning application for the construction of residential care units in Portarlington

Nua Healthcare Services Limited submitted the application which is seeking permission to carry out the development at Rathbeag, Lee Road, Portarlington.

There is currently a residential centre at Rathbeag which caters to four adults over the age of 19 with disabilities.

This latest proposal looks to remove two existing steel sheds at the site and construct three single occupancy and single-storey residential care units. Each of these units will have an individual gross floor area of 65 sqm and will be provided in two stand-alone buildings to the rear of the main residential care unit.

The development is to also have EV charging stations, bicycle parking, and a car parking area. Nua Healthcare Services Limited is also seeking retention permission for two laundry sheds.

Laois County Council are due to make their decision on the proposal on 27 March.
