A Laois student has been awarded a scholarship and bursary for his excellent leaving certificate results.
On Thursday February 13, Portarlington student Daniel Brady was recognised by NUI Maynooth for his excellent Leaving Certificate Results, where he received an entrance scholarship and bursary from the University.
Mr Brady received an impressive 589 points, including a H1 in Physics, Maths and Chemistry. The student is the son of Fiona and David Brady of Kilbeg, Walsh Island.
Mr Brady is now studying a Bsc in Theoretical Physics and Mathematics.

"We are very proud of Daniel," Coláiste Iosogáin principal Mr Justin Brown told the Leinster Express / Laois Live.
"Apart from his obvious academic ability Daniel was a very quiet student. He did his work without fuss or fanfare and was always a pleasure to deal with. A gentleman in every respect.
"Daniel was never one to brag or boast which makes him even more deserving in our eyes. Daniel was just one of a group of our Leaving Certificate students who were recognised this year for their achievements," Mr Brown praised.

Students John O’Kane and Harish Katta also received scholarships from Trinity and UCD respectively. Meanwhile, three of Colaiste Iosagáin's outgoing students were also recognised for their excellence in their Leaving Certificate Applied results.
John Whelan, Chantelle Dowling and Kelly Lyons achieved 100% in their overall LCA, while Mr Whelan receive additional recognition for his Engineering Project, which was deemed the best nationally.
