Laois Fire Crew to raise funds for childhood cancer charity

Portarlington Fire Service will be raising funds for Aoibheann's Pink Tie.

The crew from Portarlington Fire Service will be giving up their time to help raise funds for childhood cancer charity Aoibheann's Pink Tie this weekend in Laois. 

Members of the Fires Service will be in the square in Portarlington on Saturday, September 20 from 11am to 3pm as part of Childhood Cancer Awareness month. 

"All donations are welcome. Cash and donations can also be made via tap QR code so please come down to the square and support us," said the organisers.

Aoibheann’s Pink Tie provides practical, social and financial supports for children suffering from cancer, and their families, in Ireland. Supports include limited emergency financial support, respite days for families, a friendly and understanding support network with Aoibheann’s Pink Tie Parents Facebook page, Hickman drysuits for swimming and showering, overnight bags, twice yearly Children’s themed parties, chemo duck project, Dream with Aoibheann MP3 pillows, PicNominate (customized murals for a wall in the child’s bedroom), Christmas hampers, Freddie vests, care packages. Aoibheann’s Lighthouse is a respite home for families of children with cancer. It is located a short stroll from Crumlin Hospital and provides a home from home to families looking for a short or longer stay.
