Portarlington
Motorists are parking in a small estate designated in Portarlington leaving the residents without the use of their spaces, a Council meeting was told.
Independent Cllr Aidan Mullins asked in a motion: “That Laois County Council put appropriate signage / road markings at Vignoles Gardens, Portarlington to protect residents' parking spaces”.
He said it was a small enclosed social housing development in the centre of Portarlington and the residents have parking. “Members of the public are going in and using them,” said Cllr Mullins.
Senior Executive Engineer, Tom Drennan said “Laois County Council has determined additional signage is warranted and a suitable location at Vignoles Gardens Estate to erect this has been identified. The signage has been ordered and is expected to be erected early in 2026.”
Fianna Fail Cllr Paschal McEvoy seconded the motion. He suggested residents only parking signage be erected. The issue was discussed at the December meeting of Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District.
