Laois County Council has agreed to review the road markings at a junction outside Portarlington

Independent Cllr Aidan Mullins requested the move in a motion at the latest meeting of Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District.

He asked “that Laois County Council provide additional signage and road markings at Deerpark junction outside Portarlington to improve road safety”.

Senior Executive Engineer, Tom Drennan, said:  “Laois County Council will review and assess this junction and from there will determine what interventions may be required with regards to road safety, with line marking renewal and warning signage likely to be considered.”

Cllr Mullins thanked Mr Drennan and explained that the junction can pose difficulties for people who are unfamiliar with it. He said additional markings would be helpful.

The motion was supported by Independent Councillor Aisling Moran
