Laois businesses and TFI discuss eco-friendly commuting plans

Transport for Ireland (TFI) have unveiled an ambitious new Workplace Travel Plan, and met with Laois businesses to discuss its features. 

The meeting took place at Laois Chambers on July 18, where the benefits of participation in the programme were discussed.

“Promoting sustainable travel is a key part of our climate action strategy,” said Suzanne Dempsey, Climate Action Co-ordinator, Laois County Council.

“TFI’s Workplace Travel Plan program provides the knowledge and support for us to make real progress toward our environmental goals in a way that also benefits our everyone.”

The plan promotes sustainable commuting habits for employees, and provides businesses with resources and advice in developing tailored travel plans for their employees.

TFI hopes to encourage carpooling and public transport, to promote a positive environmental impact.

The programme consists of a commitment to allocating time and resources to develop travel plans in partnership with TFI, along with the receipt of an online toolkit, dedicated account management, and access to TFI’s behaviour change experts.

TFI will work with businesses to analyse the best options based on location, workforce, and operational needs. The program helps businesses track key metrics to measure impact over time.

TFI aims to partner with 100 business in the programme's first year.

Transport for Ireland (TFI) is a not-for-profit organization focused on reducing emissions from transport in Ireland.

TFI works with government, businesses and communities to promote sustainable travel options through advocacy, planning and behaviour change programs.
