RIP: Portlaosie GAA pays  tribute to Anthony Dunne

Portlaoise GAA has paid tribute to club committee member Anthony ‘Tony’ Dunne who sadly died yesterday. 

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Greg, Anthony (Jnr) and the entire Dunne family on the sad passing of their dad yesterday. 

Greg is an ever helpful member of the committee of the club and both he and Anthony Jnr played hurling and football with Portlaoise for many years. 

This has followed down to the next generation also with a number of the late Anthony’s grandchildren also playing with ‘The Town’.

Sincere condolences to the family and friends of Anthony. May he Rest in Eternal Peace,” Portlaoise GAA wrote in a social media post. 

Anthony (Tony) Dunne of St Brigids Place. Portlaoise died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on August 15,2024. Predeceased by his wife Nancy and granddaughter Keva. Dearly loved father to Sandra, Anne, Agnes, Anthony, Gregory, Janice, Derval, Donal and Natalie. Cherished grandfather and great- grandfather. Deeply regretted by his partner Josephine, sisters Annette Rafter, and Theresa Brennan, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nephews, nieces, neighbours and friends . Former colleagues at St Fintans Hospital Portlaoise. May he rest in peace. 

Reposing at Keegans Funeral home on Friday evening from 6.30 pm until 8 pm. Removal from his residence on Saturday morning to arrive at SS Peter and Pauls Church for 12 noon requiem Mass. Interment will follow in SS Peter and Pauls Cemetery Portlaoise. House private please.
