Irish Rail will undertake remedial line works between Portlaoise and Ballybrophy overnight this week. It follows the suspension of services for a time on Thursday, September 5 over fears of subsidence adjacent to the line.

Iarnród Éireann crews were dispatched and an investigation was carried out.
Providing an update to Leinster Express/Laois Live a spokesperson said: "Upon investigation, there was no subsidence – as we will always put safety first, we asked a maintenance team to attend, who advised that there was a minor track bed issue over a short distance.
"Services resumed at reduced speed, and we will undertake remedial line works with a tamping machine (which compacts the stone known as ballast on the track) overnight this week."
