Spraoi is located on the St Fintan's Health Campus in Portlaoise.
A six month old Laois baby in need of physiotherapy has been left on a waiting list due to staff shortages in the HSE, a Laois councillor has claimed.
Fine Gael Cllr Barry Walsh made his claims about the Spraoi children's disability centre in St Fintan's Campus in Portlaoise.
He raised the issue at the September meeting of Laois County Council.
"Regarding physiotherapy for children in the county, I have heard from a mother of a six month old child which has an issue with its neck and needs phsyiotherapy.
"There are only two in the county, in the Spraoi centre.
"One is on maternity leave, the other works two days a week. She 's been told that no-one is covering the maternity leave. I think that's unacceptable. Children's bones develop quickly, and can cause problems down the line," he said.
He has asked that Laois County Council write to the Health Service Executive to raise his concerns.
The Spraoi Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) is based in St Fintan's Campus on the Dublin road, and caters for children with disabilities from birth to 18 years old.
The Leinster Express / Laois Live has requested a response from the HSE.
