Traffic delays likely on one of Portlaoise busiest roads

Traffic lights in place for Laois Council landscaping work on Dublin Road junction

Two pedestrian crossings on the Dublin road in Portlaoise 'not safe'

Traffic delays are on the cards in Portlaoise as Laois County Council carries out landscaping works on the town's Dublin Road which is a key artery into town.

Contractors working on behalf of the council are doing landscaping at the Kilminchy Road roundabout on Thursday, October 24.

A public notice issued by the local authority's Roads Section says the work will be carried out between 9.30 am and 6pm that day. A traffic light system is in place to facilitate the work.

Apart from being a main road into town, the roundabout serves as the junction for residents of the large Kilminchy estate and Dun Masc.

The road is also used by many parents picking up pupils from two secondary schools on the Borris Road which is accessed from the Dublin Road via the roundabout at Rehab.
