A junction in Portlaoise is causing 'narrow misses' over confusion of who has the right of way, a local councillor says.

Cllr Marie Tuohy has asked Laois County Council to address the junction of the Borris Road with local road L21335.

"This is a road where there has been narrow misses on because there is confusion over who has the right of way. Signage would clear that up," she said.

She tabled a motion asking for a stop sign or yield sign on the local road, and to paint road markings, to the December meeting of Portlaoise Municipal District.

In reply, area engineer Wes Wilkinson said his officials will meet her on site to examine the markings and signs.
