The Portlaoise senior citizens committee at their last Christmas party back in January 2020.
Next Sunday afternoon, January 19 will see the first Portlaoise Parish senior citizens Christmas Party held since Covid hit back in 2020.
The 58th annual party will be held in the Killeshin Hotel, with dinner served promptly at 2pm followed by dancing to live music all afternoon.
Eugene Lacey is chairperson of Portlaoise Senior Citizens Committee.

He told the Leinster Express / Laois Live that they are hoping for a big number with the return of the much loved event, which had run for many years prior to its forced break for the past four years.
“We are delighted to bring it back. It's hard to know how many will come but we are expecting 100 to 140 people. We hope people will buy tickets in advance of arriving to give an idea of numbers.
“We always held it on the first Sunday of the new year but it's lucky we didn't this year with the snow, we would have had to cancel it.
“We will have a lovely four course meal, and people are welcome to arrive after 1pm. It is only for Portlaoise Parish residents, and only for people aged over 65,” Eugene Lacey said.
Tickets are €15, or €20 for a care assistant (if required, one per OAP).
They are on sale at Portlaoise Parish Office, Martley's paper shop or from any committee member. Call Eugene Lacey for a ticket on 087 2535924.
