Whopping €300,000 for four Laois towns to improve community projects

Four community projects in Laois have been granted shares of a whopping €300,000 fund for community development.

These funds will support the upgrade and provision of much needed community, sports, parks and other facilities in the 4 locations in Co. Laois.

Portlaoise, Rathdowney, Emo and Stradbally have been granted this funding for various community projects.

Fianna Fáil's Sean Fleming T.D. today welcomed grants of €308,465 for 4 Community Projects to support rural regeneration and local communities in Co. Laois.

Listed below are the 4 projects in Laois that have been approved for funding today.

"I want to thank the community groups and volunteers for their efforts to make their communities a better place and to acknowledge the pride they have shown in their areas," Deputy Fleming said.

"Laois County Council had a key role in this process and their support and guidance is very much appreciated both at community level and government level.

"I wish the groups in Rathdowney, Emo Stradbally and Portlaoise every success with their projects and I look forward to ensuring the funds are used for the full benefit of the local communities and the various projects are completed as soon as possible," Deputy Fleming finished.

St Colman's NS in Stradbally recently held a tractor and truck run fundraiser to raise money to complete the school's car park.
