Laois is set to go Purple on Friday, May 16 to raise awareness of domestic violence and the supports available in the county. Garda Kathleen Troy and Roisin Quigley from Laois Domestic Abuse Service were out and about in Portlaoise this week creating awareness for this year's Go Purple Day.

"Go Purple Day is a day to create awareness of Domestic Violence and the services that are available. Portlaoise Laois Gardaí and Laois Domestic Abuse Services are having a social walk from St Peter and Paul's Church at 10am followed by refreshments in the Parish Centre," said a Garda spokesperson.

"Remember: If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, help is available. You are not alone."
