Train pulls into Portarlington Train station
Laois train commuters are moving again but have suffered delays following the suspension of services in Kildare.
Irish Rail has confirmed at around 5pm on Friday, March 27, that a disruption on the busy train lines through and from Dublin been caused due to a bridge hit.
The company added that the line had to be temporarily closed to allow for the completion of an inspection of the damaged to the bridge, with service due to resume in the evening.
However, the damage did not prove to be serious enough to lead to a significant disruption to services with Irish Rail announcing about 5.30 pm that services were resuming, albeit with a 20 to 25 minute delay.
In a further post on X at about 6 pm it said delays had reduced to between 10 and 15 minutes on services between Heuston and Monasterevin in both directions.
It added that delays were easing and expected to ease further this evening.
