A wonderful festive day out for all the family is in store in Portlaoise this weekend with the return of the annual street Christmas market in the town.
People from near and far can expect a buzzing atmosphere, plenty of local supplies and a brilliant opportunity to get started with the local shopping this Christmas.
The town is set to come alive with the buzz of Christmas magic as the town's lights will be lit on the same day.
There will be carol singing from local singers and choirs to bring the festive mood as well as over 40 stalls with a multitude of different items on offer to explore, enjoy and buy.
This will be a fun day out for people of all ages with face painting for children, an opportunity to take pictures with Santa, for all the family to get Santa hats on and have a great time out and about in the town.
It will cost €5 to register for a Santa visit including a hat and visit.
The market opens at 11am on Sunday, November 25 and Santa will arrive at 2 pm.
Santa will be available for plenty of pictures and good cheers with the people of Portlaoise and beyond for a couple of hours before he takes on the huge responsibility of switching on the Christmas lights all across the town.
At 4.30pm Santa Claus will switch on the beautiful Portlaoise Christmas lights that will light up the town for weeks to come.
This is set to be a magical day out with the markets finishing up at 6pm.
The Portlaoise Christmas Market has been organised by the Downtown Portlaoise Retailers Association with the help of Laois County Council and support of Laois Hire.
