If you want to follow the yellow-brick road this Christmas then all roads lead to Portlaoise College as first-year to fifth-year students will take to the stage performing the all-time favourite The Wizard of Oz.
The students decided on the show that they wanted to put on themselves this year and they have been rehearsing twice per week since the beginning of August.
A big range of teachers from all departments in the college are involved in this year’s show from costume design to choreography and from set design to music and a wonderful fun family event to kick-start the festive season has been promised by Amanda Cripps who is coordinator of the college’s Christmas show for the first time.
“I am really excited about this year’s performance and the students are really putting a massive effort into making it a great success for everyone to enjoy.
“The teachers are fantastic too and they’re really dedicated.
“This year's performance will showcase Portlaoise College's commitment not only the sporting and debating talents of our students but it will also showcase the musical, artistic and theatrical talents of our students.
“The Wizard of Oz will be a performance not to be missed as we kick off the festive season with our students, families and friends.” she said.
The performance dates are Thursday 6th and Friday 7th of December with the doors opening at 7pm each evening.
Tickets cost €10 for adults and €5 for children and OAPs and are available from AllBooks in Lyster Square Portlaoise and from the office at Portlaoise College phone 057 8621480.
