Minister for Housing Darragh O'Brien in Ballylinan, Laois.
Over 110 new council homes are expected to have been handed out to waiting new tenants this June, in possibly the most productive years ever for housing provision in Laois.
The A-Rated houses are in Stradbally, Mountmellick, Portarlington and Killeen.
Laois County Council CEO John Mulholland gave an update at the monthly meeting near the end of May.
"I'd say over the next month we will receive 112 new homes to give out to tenants. I hope by next month they will be signed off and completed," Mr Mulholland said.
By the end of June, some of the developments will include: Ballymorris in Portarlington (34 three bedroom homes owned by Clúid), Market Square Portarlington (18 houses and apartments owned by LCC), Harbour Court Mountmellick (six two bedroom houses owned by LCC), Church Avenue Stradbally (31 houses from 2 to 4 bedrooms owned by LCC, phased delivery) and a single LCC built three bedroom house in Bruach na hAbhainn, Killeen.
This year, there are 378 new social houses under construction in Laois. Another 368 are at design, planning or tender stages to be delivered in the coming years.
