Laois bucks the national trend with 127 new dwelling completions between January and March

New home completions up 13% in Laois

In Laois there was a total of 127 new dwelling completions between January and March this year.

The number of new homes completed in Laois is up 13% in the first three months of 2024, according to new figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO). 

Laois is bucking the national trend which has seen a drop in new dwelling completions in the first quarter of the year by 12.1%.

In Laois there was a total of 127 new dwelling completions between January and March this year which compares to 112 over that period in 2023.

There was an increase in the number of house schemes built, from 76 to 90 this year. Single house completions are also up from 27 to 35 while the number of new apartments completed dropped from nine to two over the three months. 

Unsurprisingly the Portlaoise Local Electoral Area had the highest number of new home completions at 57 followed by Borris-in-Ossory Mountmellick (37) and Graiguecullen Portarlington (33).
