Keys to some 100 new social homes in Portlaoise, Portarlington, Mountrath, Rathdowney and Borris-in-Ossory will all be handed over in time for Santy, according to Laois County Council.
Laois County Council Director of Services for housing Angela McEvoy mentioned several of them at the September council meeting.
Rathdowney is due to get 13 new council build houses. Seven are in the Mooreville development, including four apartments and three houses. Another six are in the Moore Street development, all two bedroom, two storey homes.
“Moore Street is down to snagging. Tenants will be in before Christmas.” she said.
Another dozen out of 20 new Respond houses will be ready in An Lochán, Portlaoise before the end of December.
“They are on track to the best of my knowledge,” Ms McEvoy said.
Six more three bedroom houses are expected to be ready in Ard Branagh, Portlaoise, as a Part V handover of homes to the state in a new privately built housing estate.
Also in Portlaoise, Oaklee Housing are planning to complete 23 three and four bedroom houses in the Rockview estate by December. Three more Part V three bedroom homes will be ready in Ashewood Walk, Summerhill.
In Mountrath, seven of 11 new homes on Wallis Street are on track too.
“My belief is they were to be snagged in recent times,” the housing director said.
A further 20 homes in Shannon Street, Mountrath are expected to be ready, bought from a builder in turnkey completed condition. Derrymore Gardens with three 3 bedroom houses, another Part V scheme is also to be finished.
The second phase of 18 turnkey homes are promised to be ready in Townparks, Borris-in-Ossory.
In Portarlington, the final phase of 12 houses in Ballymorris Green is also to be completed by Clúid housing agency.
