Dereliction in Portlaoise.

Laois people who want to renovate and derelict vacant properties are set to get some expert advice at an upcoming event in Portlaoise organised by Laois County Council.

Organised by the Regeneration Section at County Hall in partnership with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), the council says the drop-in sessions will provide essential guidance on property renovation funding as part of the Government’s Town Centre First policy.

The council says attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn about available grants and funding and eligibility criteria for the renovation of vacant and derelict properties
  • Speak directly with Laois County Council vacancy & dereliction staff and SEAI representatives about your projects
  • Understand the eligibility criteria and application process for SEAI-supported schemes
  • Receive expert advice on energy upgrades on your property and how to make homes more sustainable

Denise Rainey is the council's Town Regeneration Officer. MORE BELOW PICTURE:

“This is an ideal opportunity for property owners, prospective buyers, developers, and community stakeholders to explore practical supports for bringing buildings back into use—enhancing both the fabric and vitality of local villages and towns across the county,” she said.

The event will be held on Wednesday, June 25 at Portlaoise Library from 10 am to 4 pm. Admission is free, and no appointment is necessary.
