Time running out to enter Laois County Council’s Best Front Garden Competition

There are only a few weeks left to enter Laois County Council’s 2025 Best Front Garden Competition, as part of the annual Best Estates Competition in which one estate will win €1,500 for their Residents’ Association.

This contest is open to estates where the majority of properties are owned by Laois County Council, with such estates being automatically entered into the competition. 

Each estate is automatically entered into the competition, with thousands in prize money to be won for estates and for individual tenants. 

There are separate categories per Municipal District, with a range of prizes up for grabs.

For the Best Estate award, there is €1,000 for the first prize. The second prize is €500, with €300 for the third prize.

The Best Community Floral & Shrub Display winner will receive €500, with €400 for the second prize and €300 for the third prize. 

The Best Overall Estate will receive €500, and the Best Improved Estate will receive a whopping €1,000.

Additionally, residents who would like to compete for the Best Individual Front Garden award must fill out an application form, which can be accessed on the Laois County Council website.

There is a chance for one estate to win €1,500 for their Residents’ Association.

The closing date for entries into the best Individual Front Garden is August 14, with judging running from August 18 to 29.

An Awards Night for winners will take place in Laois County Council Chamber at 7pm on Thursday October 16. 

Tenants who wish to enter the competition forBest Individual Front Garden can do so by completing an application form available at www.laois.ie/best-estates-competition and submitting it to Laois County Council.

Alternatively, tenants can contact a member of the estate management team by email: estatemanagement@laoiscoco.ie or phone: 057-8689330 detailing their name and address and the team will post out a form. 

All entries must be in no later than 4pm on Thursday August 14 2025.

Inspections of estates will commence in the last two weeks in August between Monday 18 and Friday 29 2025.
