Planning permission sought to complete Laois housing estate left unfinished since 2008

Laois County Council has received a planning application for the construction of 32 new homes in Ballylinan

De Bhal Construction Ltd. are seeking planning permission for the construction of 32 additional homes in the existing Rahin Towers estate in Ballylinan, County Laois.

The new homes would be built on an undeveloped parcel of land within the estate that has been vacant since the 2008 construction crash. 

According to the application, the development "represents a significant upgrade to the public realm, including the removal of redundant hammerheads and the comprehensive re-landscaping of open spaces to create a high-quality, integrated neighbourhood."

The application is seeking permission for 32 residential units which would consist of 12 two-storey four-bedroom semi-detached homes, and 8 two-storey three-bedroom houses which would be a mix of semi-detached, end of terrace and mid-terrace.

There would also be 6 two-storey two-bedroom homes which would again be mixed, 2 two-storey three-bedroom semi-detached homes, and 4 one-bedroom duplex units. The application includes landscaping works, site lighting and services, as well as other associated works.

Laois County Council are due to make their decision by January 13, 2026.
