Christina Lawless- Portlaoise

The death has occurred of  Christina Lawless (Nee Murray). Ridge Road, Portlaoise. Died March 5th 2024. Peacefully surrounded by her loving family in the tender care of the staff of The Residence Nursing Home, Portlaoise. Predeceased by her granddaughter Niamh. Deeply regretted by her loving husband Billy, son’s Thomas and Willie, daughter Christine, daughter in law Margaret, grandchildren Sarah, Ciara and Róisín, great grandchildren Sam, Ollie and Ben, sisters Elizabeth, Peggy and Martha, brother-in-law John, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she Rest in Peace.

Reposing at Keegan’s Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6:30pm till 8pm. Rosary at 7:30pm. Removal on Friday to SS Peter and Paul's Church for 12 noon requiem mass followed by cremation in Newlands Cross Crematorium. House strictly private please. Family flowers only, donations, if desired, to Hospice Home Care.

Baby James Moran- Ballyroan

The death occurred of Baby James Moran Main Street, Ballyroan R32FHX3 on Thursday, February 29, 2024. Arrangements have changed.

We are overcome with sadness as Baby James gained his wings and joined the angels yesterday, in the arms of his loving parents at Kings College Hospital, London. Precious son to John and Michelle, missed by his brothers Anto & TJ, grandparents Des, Carmel, Liam, Imelda, great-granny Philomena, aunts Tara, Sabrina, Ciara, Sarah, Tracy, Mary, uncles Darren, Sean, Eamonn, all his cousins and extended family.

Please keep both families in your prayers at this difficult time and give John and Michelle the strength to grieve in private.

The Moran and Ashe Family would like to thank everyone for their constant support.

Mass of The Angels will be celebrated in St Patrick's Church, Ballyroan (Eircode R32CX79) Thursday 7th of March at 3pm, followed by burial in St Patrick's Cemetery (Eircode WMHF+G8H) all Welcome.

Elizabeth (Lily) Sheeran-Borris-in-Ossory

The death occurred of Elizabeth (Lily) Sheeran (nee Dunphy), Main Street, Borris in Ossory on March 5th, 2024 (peacefully) in her 95th year, in the exceptional care of the of the Director and staff of Abbeyleix Community Nursing Unit, surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her husband Paddy, son in law Abe and grand-daughter Louise who died at birth. Lily will be sadly missed by her daughter Helen (Kavanagh), sons Edmund, Frank and Canice, grandchildren John, Sarah, Colm, David, Alison, Éanna, Aine, Maeve, Laura and Paddy, great-grandchildren A.J., Dylan, Cillian, Alfie and Archie, daughters in law Carmel and Mary, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends. May Lily Rest in Peace. 

Reposing at her residence, Main Street, Eircode R32 EF9F, this Thursday (Mar. 7th) all day, with prayers and Rosary at 8pm. Removal on Friday morning (Mar. 8th) from her home to arrive at St. Canice's Church, Borris in Ossory, for Requiem Mass at 12 noon, followed by burial in Derrinsallagh Cemetery, Borris in Ossory.

Paddy Dempsey- Portlaoise

The death occurred of Paddy Dempsey of Marian Ave., Portlaoise, R32CKR2 on March 5th 2024 Peacefully surrounded by his loving family. In the tender care of the staff of Ballard Lodge Nursing Home. Loving husband of the late Rose. Loving father to Cora and Cyril. Cherished grandfather to Emily, Alan, Conor, Tara, and Ryan. Deeply regretted by his loving family, son in law Joe Maher, daughter in law, Noeleen, brother Joe, sisters in law Kathleen and Margaret Minnock (Ballycumber), nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace. 

Reposing at the family residence on Wednesday from 6 pm, with rosary at 8 pm. Requiem mass will take place at 12 noon on Thursday in SS Peter and Paul's Church, Portlaoise. Interment will follow in Boher Cemetery, Ballycumber. Arriving at 2.30 pm approx.

Catherine (Kathleen) Dowling- Emo

The death has occurred of Catherine (Kathleen) Dowling (née O’Connell) of Emo, Portlaoise (R32 H5C0). Died March 3rd 2024 at Tallaght Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband Tommy. Deeply regretted by her sons Ray, John and Mark, her daughter Elaine, daughter -in-law Lorraine, Grandchildren Jack, Kelly, Niamh, Jane, Sarah, Michael, Aine, Sean,Thomas,and Ciara, her eight great-grandchildren, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing in her home on Wednesday from 6pm Recital of The Rosary at 8pm. Removal from her home on Thursday morning at 11.40am to St.Paul’s Church Emo arriving for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Cremation Service at 3pm in Newlands Cross Crematorium.

Jimmy Cooney - Portlaoise

The death has occurred of Jimmy Cooney The death has occurred of Jimmy Cooney, Hawthorn Drive, Portlaoise and formerly of Clonard, Co. Meath. Died 4th March 2024, at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Predeceased by his beloved wife Pat (née Moore). Deeply regretted by his sons Glenn and Gregory, brothers Fergal, David and John, his 6 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. May Jimmy Rest in Peace. Reposing at Burke’s Funeral Home, Mountrath, on Wednesday (March 6th) from 7pm, concluding with Rosary at 8pm. Removal on Thursday afternoon (March 7th) to St. Fergal’s Church, Camross (eircode R32YV79), for Requiem Mass at 2pm, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Michael Carroll - Ballinakill

The death took place on March 2 of Michael Carroll, Aughnacross, Ballinakill, Laois. Michael died suddenly but peacefully at home. Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Mary, his sisters Nancy (Gorman) and Mary (Mansfield) and his brother Seamus. Sadly missed by his nieces, nephews and their families, his cousins, neighbours and friends. May his gentle soul Rest in Peace.

Reposing at his nephew Martin Gorman's residence, Moate, Ballinakill (R32PX52) all day on Tuesday with prayers at 8.00pm. Removal on Wednesday to St. Brigid's Church, Ballinakill, for Requiem Mass at 11.00am. Burial afterwards in St. Brigid's Cemetery, Ballinakill. Alice McManus - Mountmellick

The death took place on Friday, February 23 of Alice McManus (née Goodwin), Porter Square, London, formerly of Athlone, Co. Westmeath and Mountmellick, Co. Laois.

Peacefully, in the devoted care of her loving family, at her home in London.

Predeceased by her beloved parents, Joanie and John Goodwin, her brothers Joe and John, and sisters Lena Donnelly and Caroline McShane.

Beloved wife of Patrick, and much-loved Mum of Sinead, Mary, Donna, Annamarie, Joanna, Emma, Patrick, and John, sisters Ann and Joan. Treasured and adored by her many grandchildren and fondly remembered by her nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours, and friends.

Alice touched the hearts of those around her with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love. Her memory will be engraved forever in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Reposing at home, 6 Porter Square, London, N19 4DY, on Sunday, March 10th, from 6 pm. Funeral Mass on Monday, March 11th, at 11 am, St Mellitus, Tollington Park, London N4 3AG.

Dennis Richards - Clonaslee

The death took place on Saturday, March 2 of Dennis Richards, Shraduff, Clonaslee, Laois.

Died peacefully under the excellent care of the nursing and medical staff in Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore.

Very sadly missed by his loving partner Mary, her children Daniel, MaryEllen, John, Tracy and Liz along with his neighbours and friends.

Reposing in Moloneys Funeral Home Mountmellick on Tuesday evening from 7.30pm to 9pm. Removal on Wednesday from the funeral home at 1.15 pm to Newlands Cross Crematorium for Cremation Service at 3pm.

Angela Farrell - Ballybrittas

The death took place on Sunday, March 3 of Angela Farrell (Rathhouse, Ballybrittas, Co.Laois and formerly of Main Street, Gowran, Co. Kilkenny)

Peacefully in St James’s Hospital, Dublin, predeceased by her loving parents Thomas and Mary Farrell, her brothers Martin, Jim, Dick, Pat, Tommy and sister Kathleen.

Angela will be sadly missed by her brothers Frankie and John Joe, sisters-in-law Mary and Ann and her many nieces and nephews.

Reposing at Hehir’s Funeral Home, Butt’s Green, Gardens, Kilkenny (R95FH90), on Tuesday 5th of March from 4pm to 7pm, concluding with prayers at 7pm.

Funeral Mass at the Church of Assumption Gowran at 11am on Wednesday 6th of March, burial afterwards in the adjoining Cemetery.

Anne Kelly - Portarlington

The death took place on Thursday, February 29 of Anne Kelly St Margarets Road, Charlestown, Dublin 11 and formerly of St Michael's Park, Portarlington County Laois.

Loving daughter of the late Martin (Jock). Sadly missed by her loving partner Mark O'Connor, mother Camilla (Millis), brother Martin (Jock), sister-in-law Leona, aunts, The O'Connor family, cousins, relatives and friends.

Sue Mary Attle - Mountmellick

The unexpected death of Sue Mary Attle (Nee Maile) of Grove Park, Mountmellick, Co. Laois took place on Tuesday, February 27.

Administrator of Mountmellick Community Sports Complex and formerly of Brophy Insurance, Portlaoise.

Died peacefully, at home. Predeceased by her beloved Mother Eiblis & Brother David. Survived but deeply saddened by husband Spencer, father Donald, brother Chris, much loved uncles Joe and Frank Cunneen, aunties Yvonne and Barbara, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Moloney's Undertakers Funeral Home on Saturday 2pm to 5pm and Tuesday 3pm to 7pm.

The family request that the family home is private for family only on the morning of the funeral.

The funeral is to take place at St Joseph’s Catholic Church at 11am on Wednesday, 6th March. The service will be held by Father Michael Murphy.
