Annie Kirwan - Abbeyleix

The death has occurred of  Annie Kirwan (née Lalor), Boley, Abbeyleix, peacefully at home in her 93rd year.

Pre-deceased by her husband Edward (Ned) and siblings Brigid, Mary, Tommy, Kathleen,Alice, Teresa and Paddy. Much loved mother of Marian, Ann, Claire, Eamonn, Danny, Bernadette, Bridget, Patricia and Martina. Adored daughter-in-law Catherine and cherished sons-in-law Jack, Bernard, Matthew, Patrick, Ger and Denjoe. Deeply regretted by her brother Donal Lalor. Sadly missed by her adored grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and a wide circle of neighbours and friends.

Reposing at her residence R32W314 on Friday, August 1, from 3 pm to 8 pm with Rosary at 6 pm. Removal to The Church Of The Most Holy Rosary Abbeyleix on Saturday for 11 am. Requiem Mass. Internment afterwards in St. Brigid's Cemetery Shanahoe.

William (Bill) Lynch - Mountmellick

The death has occurred of William (Bill) Lynch New Ireland Rd, Rialto, Dublin / Mountmellick originally from Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan.

Pre-deceased by his father William from Mountmellick and mother Mary (Carrickmacross), Bill made his home in Rialto, Dublin along with his pre-deceased wife Mary (neé Drumm), who passed in 2003.

Bill dedicated his life to education, having spent time both in Ireland and in Kenya with the Patrician Brothers teaching, before moving into educational curriculum development and in later years lecturing, having recently been awarded his Doctorate in Education.

Bill had a brief battle with cancer and peacefully succumbed to his illness, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday 30th July 2025 aged 73 years.

He is survived by his son Will, daughter Joanna, daughter-in-law Cíara, brothers Brendan (Mary) and Tony (Miriam), sister Marianne (Pat), mother-in-law Johanna, aunt Claire (Portlaoise), sisters-in-law Anne, Bernie and Imelda, brothers-in-law Paul, Seamus, Sean and Vincent, extended family - cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and many beloved close friends and colleagues.

Reposing in his home in Rialto, Dublin on Friday 1st August from 5pm. Recital of the Rosary at 8pm. Funeral arriving to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Fatima, Rialto on Saturday 2nd August for 11am Requiem Mass. Burial afterwards in St Joseph's Cemetery Mountmellick, Co Laois.

Kathleen Rowan - Killeshin 

Kathleen Rowan (née Maloney), 11 Cappalug, Killeshin, and formerly of Milltown, Tuam, Co. Galway, July 29th 2025 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny.

Beloved wife of the late Christopher and much loved mother of Christine, Karen, Jackie and Paul. Sadly missed by her loving son, daughters, sister Mary Boyce (New Jersey, USA) sons-in-law Seamus and John, Paul’s partner Anna, Karen’s partner Christy, adored grandchildren Natasha, Tara, Gavin, Carolyn, Heather, Grace, Alan, Jamie and Dean, great-grandchildren Amber, James, Amira, Isla, Alfie, Freddie and Sadie, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, neighbours and friends. Predeceased by her granddaughter baby Mary-Christine, brothers Henry, Jimmy and Baby Michael and by her sisters Margaret and Una.

May Kathleen Rest in Eternal Peace. Reposing in R. Healy & Son Funeral Home Pollerton Castle, Carlow on Thursday evening (July 31st) from 4pm to 8pm, pausing for prayers at 7pm. Funeral Mass on Friday at 2pm in Holy Cross Church, Killeshin. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Donations in memory of Kathleen to the Friends of the Sacred Heart Hospital would be welcomed. Donate here. House private, please.

Julia Quinn- Portlaoise

Julia Quinn. Limetree Ave. Portlaoise and formerly Ballyfin Co. Laois. 28th July 2025. Peacefully at St Vincents Private Hospital. Surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her father Jim. Dearly loved daughter to Mary. Cherished sister to Sadie, Jim, Mary Teresa, Christine and John. Deeply regretted by her loving family. Brothers-in-law Declan, Brendan, Mike, and sisters-in-law Gemma and Roxanne. Nephews, nieces and all her close friends and her GAA family at Comhairle Laighean. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at Keegans funeral home Portlaoise on Thursday from 6.30 pm until 8 pm. With rosary at 7.30 pm. Funeral arriving at SS Peter and Pauls Church Portlaoise for 11 am Requiem Mass on Friday. Interment will follow in Ballyfin Cemetery.
