There is sadness across Laois this week following the passing of Niall Wallis from Coolkerry, Rathdowney.
Niall unexpectedly passed away on March 17 after a short illness, surrounded by his loving family at The Mater Hospital, Dublin.
Niall was heavily involved in different groups around the county, from the Easy Riders Cycling group, the Lost Souls Motorbike Club, and the Laois Beekeeping Association.
There has been an outpour of condolences and kind words for Niall, who has been hailed as a 'true gentleman', 'a lovely man', and 'a nice guy who was always popular wherever he went'.
"Niall has been an important and valued member of our group, as a cyclist, marshal and just being a decent human being," one person said.
"Neill was a fantastic and vibrant, energetic person. He would brighten up our day after having a chat with him. Neill you will be sorely missed," another person said.
"Can't quite believe that we will never see him again. Everywhere in the workplace has his memory. We have lost a greatly valued member of our team," another person paid tribute.

Predeceased by his parents William (Bill) and Maeve (née Gibbons). Sadly missed and remembered with love by his brothers Kevin and Dermot (Derry), sister-in-law Marie, nieces Aisling and Éilís, nephew Gearóid, aunts Helen, Rose, Claire and Madeleine, uncle Noel, cousins, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing at O'Sullivan's Funeral Home, Rathdowney (Eircode R32 NY24) on Friday evening March 20th. from 6 o'clock pausing for prayers at 8 o'clock. Removal on Saturday morning March 21st. to the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Rathdowney arriving for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Interment afterwards in the Local Cemetery, Rathdowney.
