Deaths in Laois - August 14, 2018

Monica McCormack - Portlaoise, Kerry, Galway, Roscommon

The death has occurred of Monica McCormack (née O'Connor) Dooks, Glenbeigh, Kerry / Oranmore, Galway / Dublin Road, Portlaoise / Roscommon.

Monica passed away peacefully at University Hospital Galway on August 15. Beloved wife of the late Charlie (ex-surgeon Portlaoise Hospital) and much loved mother of Gerald, Charles, Bill, James, Oliver, Gigi, Sarah, Monica, Maria - Rosario, Fran and the late John.

Sadly missed by her sons and daughters, sister Mary, brother Gerald, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law especially Kay, grandchildren, extended family and friends.

Reposing at her son James home in Cartron, Coast Rd, Oranmore ( H91 YC R9) on Thursday, August 16 from 5pm. to 8pm.

Reposing again at her family home in Dooks, Glenbeigh on Friday, August 17 from 5pm to 8pm. Removal on Saturday 18th August to Star of the Sea Church, Cromane to arrive for Requiem Mass at 12.30 p.m. Funeral afterwards to Ardmoniel Cemetery, Killorglin.

Freida Delaney - Wolfhill & Dublin

The death occurred on August 15 of Freida Delaney, Monastery Gate Close, Clondalkin, Dublin and Wolfhill

Daughter of the late James. Deeply regretted by her loving mother Betty, brothers Anthony, James and Patrick, sisters Majella, Margaret and Anne, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, grand-nephew, relatives and close friends.

Reposing at her mother's residence, Glosna, Wolfhill, from 11am on Thursday morning with Rosary at 8pm. Removal on Friday afternoon at 1.30pm to arrive at St. Mary's Church, Wolfhill, for Requiem Mass at 2pm. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only, please.

Donations, if desired, to The Irish Cancer Society. Donations box in church.

Julia Kennedy - Attanagh & Kilkenny 

The death occurred on August 15 of Julia Kennedy 10 Troyscourt, Kilkenny City, Kilkenny / Attanagh, Kilkenny / Attanagh, Laois.

Formerly of Arnotts, Dublin. Peacefully, at Aut Even Hospital, Kilkenny. Deeply regretted by her sisters Mem (Dunphy), Kathleen (Cummins) and Claire (Morrissey), brothers in law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews relatives and friends,

Reposing in Troysgate Oratory Kilkenny from 1.30pm to 2.30pm on Thursday.

Reposing at her sister Mem’s house (Earlsgarden, Attanagh) from 4.00pm on Thursday with Rosary at 8.00pm. Removal to the Church of the Assumption, Ballyouskill, on Friday morning for Requiem Mass at 11.00am. Burial immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Agnes Monaghan - Cullohill / San Francisco

The death has occurred of Agnes Monaghan (née Dunphy), Bunlacken, Cullohill, Laois

Resident and died in San Francisco, USA, Agness died peacefully in the presence of her loving husband Emmet and daughter Mary Ann.

Pre-deceased by her brothers Liam (Cullohill), Jim (Durrow), Mick (Dun Laoghaire), Kieran (Deans Grange) and sisters Mary Finnegan (Baldoyle), Kathleen (Blackrock) and Nancy Kehoe (Abbeyleix).

Sadly missed by Emmet and Mary Ann, brothers Fr Larry (former PP Urlingford), Paddy (Cullohill) and John (Thurles), sister Sheila Lynam (Blackrock and Wexford), sisters in law, Annette, Breda, Bridie, Marette and Mary, nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and wide circle of friends RIP.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated in St Tighearnach's Church Cullohill on Friday August 17th at 7.30pm
  
John-Joe Bergin Rathdowney & Galmoy

The death has occurred of John-Joe Bergin, Levalley, Galmoy, Kilkenny / Rathdowney, Laois

Unexpectedly at Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise. Sadly mourned by his relatives, neighbours and friends.

Funeral arrangements will be announced Thursday afternoon.

Tony Lodge Ballyroan & Portlaoise

The death has occurred of Tony Lodge, Cashel, Ballyroan.
Tony passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise on August 15. Sadly missed by his loving wife Ann, son Jerry. daughters Sarah, Anne and Julia, partners Eoin, and Donal, grandchildren Lucas, and Eabha. Brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law. Nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at his residence from 4pm on Thurdsay, August 16 with rosary at 8pm.  Removal on Friday morning to St. Patrick's Church, Ballyroan to arrive for 11am Requiem Mass. Interment afterwards in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Abbeyleix.

Sr Rita Deegan - Wicklow / Mountrath

The death occurred of Sr Rita Deegan (Columban Sisters), August 14, at St Columban’s Convent, Magheramore, Wicklow, Sr Rita is late of Mountrath in Laois, Hong Kong and Pakistan.

Deeply regretted by her loving sister Agnes RSC, sister-in-law Nina, Aunt Minnie, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, friends and Religious Community. Predeceased by her brother Gerry and sister Mary.

Removal on Wednesday, August 15, at 5.30pm to the Convent Chapel. Funeral Mass on Thursday at 11.30am followed by burial in the Convent Cemetery.

Patricia Free - Dublin / Stradbally 

The death occurred of Patricia Free (née Bradshaw), Templeogue, Dublin / Stradbally, Laois on Monday August 13, peacefully at home.

Beloved wife of the late William, and loving mother of Janet, Robin, Stephanie and Brian who will miss her dearly. She was a wonderful and kind grandmother to Ryan, Jake, Ruby and Rory. She will be sadly missed by her daughters-in-law Jane and Claire, son-in-law Ian, sister Olive, sisters-in-law Hilda and Ann, cousin Iris and other extended family members as well as her many treasured friends from Rathfarnham Golf Club and Marley Bridge Club.

Reposing at Fanagans Funeral Home, Rathfarnham on Friday August 17. Funeral on Saturday morning after 11 o’clock Service from Rathfarnham Parish Church, followed by burial at Kilmashogue Cemetery, Edmonstown Rd., Rathfarnham.

Edward Geoghegan - Portarlington

Died unexpectedly at St James's Hospital Dublin on Saturday, August 11. Deeply regretted by his loving brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at his residence on Tuesday with Rosary at 8pm. Removal on Wednesday at 9.10am arriving St. Michael's Church, Portarlington for Requiem Mass at 10am. Funeral afterwards to St. Michael's Cemetery, Portarlington.
