On a very cold November morning Portlaoise held the re-scheduled game versus New Ross in Tougher

In tough conditions it took Portlaoise only five minutes to open their account for the day. It came through a great block down by the in-form scrum-half Mikey Dowling. The bounce was favourable and Mikey’s persistence paid off with a well deserved try.

Portlaoise’s second try came from the ever menacing David Maher as he showed his strength by getting over the line. Minutes later great team work saw Evan Browne offload to Dean Brophy. Dean timed his return pass to perfection which allowed Evan Browne to sprint down the line to get Portlaoise’s third try.

The impressive Dean Brophy was rewarded for all his hard work when he got over for his own try just before half time making the score 22-0 heading to the break.

In the second half Portlaoise continued their scoring with a try from Luke Rigney. New Ross enjoyed a few minutes of pressure and were rewarded with a hard earned try however Portlaoise had no intentions of letting them back into the game.

Super subs Dylan Kavanagh and David Donoghue made a real impression coming off the bench to score two great tries. This will no doubt give their manager something to think about. Other great performances this week came from PJ Daly, Dean Brophy qand William Seal who moved the ball quickly and attacked with ease.
