A large primary school in Laois is launching a weekly lotto, to pay for school equipment.
Portarlington Presentation Primary School teaches over 550 pupils in a modern building on Station Road. However the Government funding is not enough to provide the best equipment for the childern.

They are hoping that the new lotto will help them buy sports and IT equipment as well as teaching resources.
The principal is Frankie Andrews who with the Parents Council is asking everyone to support it.
"Welcome to the Presentation Primary School fundraiser lotto. This is a fundraising initiative and the money raised will be used to directly support your children's education and purchase resources for our school including sports equipment, IT equipment, classroom and teaching resources.
"As a school we are committed to providing the very best equipment, teaching and learning resources. The commitment to provide the very best for the school costs more than the school grants provided by the department. This is a challenge for many schools in Ireland and we want to overcome this challenge with our school fundraiser lotto.
"We will keep you updated about what we have been able to purchase so you can see the positive benefit of your support," they say.
"We hope that the weekly option of 1 line for €2.50 will allow everybody to contribute. Please pass the word on and invite friends and family.
"It would be hugely appreciated if you can contribute €5 for 3 lines, and you never know you might just win! Thank you so much."
The first draw takes place on Thursday evening, April 27 at 8pm. The first jackpot is €500, with a €20 weekly winner. It can be played online here.
