Laois young people across every background are invited to make a difference for others and join the young politicians group Comhairle na nÓg.
Laois Comhairle na nÓg is calling on new members to join, particularly those from diverse backgrounds in Laois.
The group which has members representing schools and clubs all over the county, aims to empower young people in the Laois area to voice local issues faced by those in their own age group.
Shauna Traynor is a Laois Comhairle na nÓg member.
"We would greatly welcome new members. Anyone between the ages of twelve to eighteen are welcome to join the group. Given my own diverse background, I can see the benefits of integrating young people from different backgrounds and nationalities.
"For example, at our last AGM, the young members, who vote on a different topic every year to focus on, decided to choose the topic of discrimination. After coming up with the idea to create a podcast, the members of Laois Comhairle na nÓg have been working hard to bring their vision to life.
"The aim is to educate people in Laois about the different types of discrimination that people are facing in our local area and hope that by shining a light on the topic, people may learn where they can find help. They are such a great group of young people," Shauna said.
Any young person interested in joining Laois Comhairle na nÓg can email comhairle@ywilaois.com or send a whatsapp message to 086 787 6277.
