Portlaoise College was awash with smiles and hugs and delight was etched across the faces of the students arriving at the school earlier today.
Despite receiving their results online, a large number of the college's Leaving Cert and Leaving Cert Applied students chose to come to the school to share their excitement with parents, staff and friends.
Students started to assemble at 11 o'clock for refreshments, with the school's Guidance Department on hand to meet the students. Click NEXT to view more pictures. Read more below.
"The staff and management at Portlaoise College are thrilled for their students, and we would like to offer them our sincerest congratulations." said school Principal Noel Daly.
"The results day is merely a celebration of the hard work and dedication of our students, and staff with the support of their families over five or six years. This year we had two students reach over the 600-point mark, with one student achieving 625 points. We also had a large number of students with over 550 points,” he explained.
“The results of our LCA class were also outstanding with the majority of students achieving a distinction. The overarching feeling from the entire group is one of delight at their achievement and their thoughts are now turned to their futures, whether that be at third level, an apprenticeship or a further education course," he said.
"Whatever their path, we would like to wish them all well in their future careers," Mr Daly concluded.
